What Happens at NVC for a K-1 Visa?

For a K-1, NVC's role is administrative routing. It does not interview you, decide your eligibility, or schedule your appointment. It receives the approved petition from USCIS, creates a case record, and sends that case on to the processing post.

This is different from an immigrant visa case, where NVC collects fees, civil documents, and the visa application before scheduling. K-1 cases move through NVC comparatively quickly because most of the pre-interview work happens at the post instead.
